Identifying market opportunities for particiants' research results
Initiation and implementation of the program for capitalizing on research results, a program that contributes to increasing the capacity of North-West RDAs to identify and increase innovative project ideas within universities and research centers. Although initially the program did not provide funding for the identified projects (only coaching and specialized consulting), given their technological training it was decided to provide mini-grants for selected teams.
In the pilot edition of the program in the North-West Region were involved the 4 largest universities in Cluj (UBB, UTCN, USAMV and UMF) which at the beginning of this year launched a call for projects, 10 of them being selected to participate in a workshop organized in March in the format of the “I-Corps” program of the US National Science Foundation (NSF), aiming to support participants in identifying market opportunities for their research results. The workshop sessions were given by experts from the University of California, Berkeley and the University of North Carolina.

Out of the 10 proposals presented and developed during the event, 5 from the region were selected to benefit from personalized coaching from World Bank experts in order to bring their products / services to market. The other teams continue to benefit from the Foundation Training sessions.
Regarding the following activities, it will be necessary to clarify the aspects related to the financing for the 5 projects selected through the ROP, following that at the beginning of 2019 the second call for project ideas will be launched, the ADRs assuming a more active role in this approach.
The teams selected for individual coaching in the North-West Region are:
-
